So the inclusion of 4turf® perennial ryegrass ensures fast establishment, deeper rooting and improved drought tolerance. Not only that but 4turf® perennial ryegrass also provides the perfect nurse crop. Originally engineered by DLF Seeds, this mix is ideal for challenging areas. Not only those areas with low fertility and poor soils but also areas that suffer compaction and which only benefit from sporadic maintenance. Yet, despite these conditions it delivers a durable, low-maintenance sward with excellent year-round ground cover and erosion control. Moreover, this mix exhibits exceptional hardiness, rapid establishment, and an ability to thrive in low-nutrient soils. In short the mix contains a balanced selection of Strong Creeping Red Fescue, Perennial Ryegrass, and Smooth-stalked Meadowgrass. These have been chosen for their wear tolerance, fast germination, and resilience. Furthermore these varieties are proven performers in verge-side conditions. Offering a dense and robust turf structure that minimises maintenance and supports biodiversity. Sowing Rate So to ensure the best results, sow the mix at a rate of 20–35g/m², ideally in early spring or autumn. Generally, soil temperatures and moisture levels at these times will support germination. Ideally, keep the seeded area moist during establishment and avoid cutting until the grass reaches at least 75mm in height. Once established only minimal upkeep is required. But please mow occasionally and do some spot maintenance to keep the verge looking tidy and functional.
