With almost 2 decades of growing sedum and wildflower blankets for use on extensive green roofs, Turfonline have perfected a growing medium that meets the needs of both the building and the plants. Our specially blended extensive green roof substrate is tested to the German FLL guidelines (2018) and it provides the perfect base for establishing a green roof. An extensive green roof needs to retain moisture to support the plants, whilst also remaining lightweight. Turfonline green roof substrate is made from recycled materials giving a low density, low nutrient base with optimum water retention properties. The use of recycled crushed brick provides the most effective media for extensive roof systems, due to its ability to retain moisture whilst also remaining lightweight.
