Spurium ‘ Summer Glory’ originated in Caucasus, Iran. The vivid pink flowers appear from July to September. The succulent-like foliage provides further interest, changing from dark green in spring to red tinged in autumn. It has very vigorous carpeting growth, making it ideal as a ground cover. Being drought tolerant and tolerant of poor soils, makes this species ideal for green roofs, rockeries or planters. What sets ‘Summer Glory’ apart is its stunning foliage transformation throughout the seasons. In spring and early summer, its leaves emerge a rich burgundy-red and deepen in colour as the season progresses. By midsummer, the plant bursts into bloom with clusters of small, star-shaped pink-red flowers that attract bees and butterflies, adding ecological value to your garden. Not only is ‘Summer Glory’ drought-tolerant, but it also resists deer and rabbit browsing, making it a reliable choice for both rural and urban gardens. Its spreading nature makes it an excellent groundcover, especially in challenging spots like slopes or dry, rocky areas where other plants struggle to establish. Ideal for edging pathways or spilling over walls, Sedum spurium ‘Summer Glory’ brings year-round interest with its vivid foliage and floral display. It is especially useful in low-water landscapes, and its compact habit allows for easy pairing with other sun-loving perennials.
