Bannetons or proving baskets are used to support the dough while it rises after final shaping. They are perfect for creating beautiful, rustic, artisan-style bread. Make your dough, shape it, and then let it prove/rise in the banneton basket (flour the basket with rice flour to prevent the dough from sticking). Then, when risen, turn the dough out onto your baking tray (or slide onto your baking steel/stone using a dusted peel), score, and bake. You’ll achieve a beautiful rectangular/oval loaf with a flour ring pattern. When finished, brush out any excess flour from the basket (avoid washing).
