Organic cotton is planted on ecological farms that follow clear rules for organic food and cotton, from the seeds to the final production of the fabric, including sewing. The use of toxic chemicals during planting or production is prohibited, as they can harm workers and the environment. Genetically modified organisms are also prohibited. Clothes like this organic cotton t-shirt do not cause allergic reactions. Unlike synthetic materials (polyester), organic cotton does not release plastic microfibers during washing. As sewage treatment plants cannot deal with these microfibres, they end up in rivers and seas, contaminating water and soil, causing harm to animals and sometimes ending up in our dishes. Certification The organic cotton from which the t-shirt is made has been grown, produced and certified according to the standards of the international organisation GOTS. These standards define the methods involved in growing cotton, harvesting it and producing clothing and other textiles, including dyes, yarns and buttons, taking into account the social and working conditions of the workers.
