Your Delivery

Turf Online aims to give its customers the best possible experience by delivering the best quality products for sale in the UK. Therefore, all our perishable products are harvested fresh to order the day before delivery!

Delivery charges and services vary by different types of turf and delivery location. Charges are confirmed at checkout before payment. If your order includes grass turf, topsoil, Wildflower Turf or Sedum mats, you can choose your delivery day. You should arrange for live products to be delivered on the day you will lay them. Reducing the amount of time the product is stored means significantly less potential nuisance when it comes to installation; certain issues will not have had a chance to rise. All other products are delivered within 5 working days (or usually sooner!).

How Is Your Product Delivered?

We recommend that you only make arrangements for tradespeople to carry out work on your behalf after your turf or other products have been delivered.

PLEASE NOTE: Turf, Wildflower Turf, Sedum Mats and bulk Bag products are delivered on a pallet and can only be delivered to the kerbside.

Most of our products for sale in the UK will be delivered by being transported by a pallet courier that primarily uses 18-tonne rigid trucks that are built for reaching the majority of UK addresses. However, it is possible that your delivery could be made on a larger vehicle. If access or other restrictions prevent vehicles above a certain size reaching your address, or there are other offloading or parking restrictions which could affect the delivery, let us know in the delivery notes section of checkout so that special delivery arrangements can be made. Please make sure you double check the delivery postcode and address carefully as after your order has been shipped, it is likely we will not be able to make any amendments to your order or address.

Delivery is unloaded using a manual pallet trolley which is lowered to the road by the tail lift on the truck. Unfortunately, we do not offer Hiab (truck-mounted crane) deliveries. To offload the pallet, the surface must be flat and level. Since Turf, Wildflower Turf, Sedum and topsoil can be heavy, and the pallet trolley pulled by the driver has small wheels, pallets cannot be delivered onto soil, grass or gravel – a tarmac or paved surface is required.

Kerbside delivery means that our products for sale in the UK is delivered as close as possible to the delivery address you provide. Our helpful drivers will do their best to place your delivery where you wish, such as a driveway, but this is at their discretion. If your delivery address is hard to find or the property is a new build, consider using what3words to pinpoint your delivery location. More information on what3words can be found in our Help Centre.

What Issues Could Arise With Delivery?

If your product delivery cannot be made due to a reason you failed to make us aware of, the full cost of distribution and products will still be charged to you. We are proud that most of our turf deliveries arrive on time. Sometimes, circumstances beyond our control (extreme weather, road accidents, vehicle breakdowns or IT failures) can delay delivery, but we will make every effort to keep you updated in such an event.

Sedum Extensive Green Roof Blanket Architects, property developers and householders are all looking for ways to improve eco-efficiency and to combat the effects of climate change. Not only are the benefits associated with a green roof huge, but they also provide a habitat that supports the UK’s pollinators. They are really easy to maintain and look amazing. Our Enviromat® sedum blanket is seeded with up to 18 different types of sedum plants. So you get a wonderful mix of foliage to enjoy. The mats are grown outdoors in our Norfolk based  nursery for 9-12 months ensuring at least 95% coverage. Furthermore, the plant species chosen have great disease resistance, drought tolerance and long flowering periods. Usually these run from early April until the end of October. But when not in flower, the foliage of our sedum plants are evergreen providing interest all year round. Composition The matting itself is specially made using recycled products. So it is strong and easy to handle. We only despatch our sedum blankets when they are mature. This means there is no loss of substrate because of handling, transportation or even heavy rain after installation. One of the benefits of using a pre-populated sedum blanket is instant coverage. In contrast, plug plants are not only time consuming to install but can take a long time to establish. If you want to increase biodiversity, you can also use plug plants with our Sedum Extensive Green Roof Blanket. Please note this product is intended for extensive green roof installation only. For a lightweight retrofit green roof solution please check out or Sedum Flat Roof Kit or Sedum Pitched Roof Kit These both contain everything you need to transform an existing roof into a true green roof. If you are looking for a ground installation we also have a Sedum Ground Mat Kit.   Before you begin Fundamentally, your roof must have a load bearing capacity of at least 150Kg per square metre in order to install a green roof. Moreover, please note that this includes the weight of live loading, i.e. a person walking on the roof in order to install the green roof or carry out maintenance. Regrettably, we are unable to give specific advice on the suitability of your roof. But we would advise you to seek the advice of a structural engineer before undertaking an extensive green roof project. Three ways to create a green roof How does a green roof help insulate? To complete your green roof installation you will also require the following: Lightweight green roof substrate – the growing medium to sustain plant life. Drainage board – A layer to control water by allowing just the right amount to be stored to sustain the sedum plants, and allowing the excess to safely drain away. Suitable edging – An edging not only improves the looks of the installation but ensures adequate drainage. If you need any help or advice, please check out our Help Centre. Key Points Flowering Time: April – September (depending on local weather conditions). Height when fully grown is around 150mm but can vary during the growing season. Sedum plants are perennial and frost hardy. Our Sedum Extensive Green Roof Blankets are mown before despatch to minimise damage to plants. It is likely they will not be in flower when delivered. Can be installed at any time of year. Each slab of Sedum Extensive Green Roof Blanket measures 500mm x 1000mm so it takes two slabs to cover 1 square metre. The balance of plant species is affected by maintenance, pollinator populations and local climatic conditions. Saturated weight is up to 25kg – we recommend having 2 people to install.   Coverage Each slab of Sedum Extensive Roof Blanket measures 500mm (19.6″) wide by 1000mm (39.2″) long so it takes two slabs to cover 1m². *Due to some operational changes, rolls sizes may vary from those stated. We will ensure that you receive the correct total area that you have ordered. Please note this product is sold per square metre. Delivery Information

Smaller items like plants, plugs and seeds will be delivered by a parcel courier if ordered on their own. If your order includes a bulky item we will try and consolidate your deliveries into as few as possible.

Some items may be despatched from different locations which means they may be delivered separately to other items on your order. If this is the case it will show this on the item description.

We use Royal Mail for items up to 2kg. DPD for 5kg or more (e.g. 150 plugs), and DHL for parcels up to 30kg.

Current dispatch times are as follows: up to 3 days for orders that just contain seeds, up to 14 days for orders that contain Wildflower Plugs and up to 7 days for all other orders.

Currently we do not offer the ability to select your delivery day for items delivered on a parcel courier.
