Your Delivery

Turf Online aims to give its customers the best possible experience by delivering the best quality products for sale in the UK. Therefore, all our perishable products are harvested fresh to order the day before delivery!

Delivery charges and services vary by different types of turf and delivery location. Charges are confirmed at checkout before payment. If your order includes grass turf, topsoil, Wildflower Turf or Sedum mats, you can choose your delivery day. You should arrange for live products to be delivered on the day you will lay them. Reducing the amount of time the product is stored means significantly less potential nuisance when it comes to installation; certain issues will not have had a chance to rise. All other products are delivered within 5 working days (or usually sooner!).

How Is Your Product Delivered?

We recommend that you only make arrangements for tradespeople to carry out work on your behalf after your turf or other products have been delivered.

PLEASE NOTE: Turf, Wildflower Turf, Sedum Mats and bulk Bag products are delivered on a pallet and can only be delivered to the kerbside.

Most of our products for sale in the UK will be delivered by being transported by a pallet courier that primarily uses 18-tonne rigid trucks that are built for reaching the majority of UK addresses. However, it is possible that your delivery could be made on a larger vehicle. If access or other restrictions prevent vehicles above a certain size reaching your address, or there are other offloading or parking restrictions which could affect the delivery, let us know in the delivery notes section of checkout so that special delivery arrangements can be made. Please make sure you double check the delivery postcode and address carefully as after your order has been shipped, it is likely we will not be able to make any amendments to your order or address.

Delivery is unloaded using a manual pallet trolley which is lowered to the road by the tail lift on the truck. Unfortunately, we do not offer Hiab (truck-mounted crane) deliveries. To offload the pallet, the surface must be flat and level. Since Turf, Wildflower Turf, Sedum and topsoil can be heavy, and the pallet trolley pulled by the driver has small wheels, pallets cannot be delivered onto soil, grass or gravel – a tarmac or paved surface is required.

Kerbside delivery means that our products for sale in the UK is delivered as close as possible to the delivery address you provide. Our helpful drivers will do their best to place your delivery where you wish, such as a driveway, but this is at their discretion. If your delivery address is hard to find or the property is a new build, consider using what3words to pinpoint your delivery location. More information on what3words can be found in our Help Centre.

What Issues Could Arise With Delivery?

If your product delivery cannot be made due to a reason you failed to make us aware of, the full cost of distribution and products will still be charged to you. We are proud that most of our turf deliveries arrive on time. Sometimes, circumstances beyond our control (extreme weather, road accidents, vehicle breakdowns or IT failures) can delay delivery, but we will make every effort to keep you updated in such an event.

Sedum Ground Mat Kit Our Enviromat® Sedum Ground Mat Kits contain everything you need to create beautiful ornamental ground cover . It flowers from April to the end of October. Primarily, it’s a truly stunning, very low maintenance alternative to a grass lawn. Furthermore, the foliage of our sedum ground mat kit is evergreen, beautifully textured and full of interest all year round. Not only are sedum ground mats great for a sunny spot but they are especially useful where the soil is very dry – or even non-existent. This means that you can create a luscious and beautiful area of foliage almost anywhere, bringing that space to life. As the mats are delivered with at least 95% plant coverage, you can rest assured that the finished project will look outstanding. All you need to do is place each slab onto a prepared surface and give them a good watering until established. How are they made? We seed our sedum ground mats with up to 18 different types of sedum, so you get a wonderful mix of foliage. Then the mats are nurtured outdoors in our Norfolk based nursery for 9-12 months or until they are big and strong enough for despatch. Initially, we choose plant species for their disease resistance, drought tolerance and long flowering period. So you should always get the best possible results. The matting itself is specially made using recycled products, so you can also feel proud that you are helping to keep the environment healthier. Not only is it strong and easy to handle it is also designed to keep the growing medium (substrate) within the mat. As a result our sedum ground mats feature no loss of substrate due to handling, transportation or even heavy rain after installation. For that reason, sedum is great for sloping banks or for disguising manhole covers (the mat can be easily moved to allow access). Stanton Cross Case Study Sedums are drought tolerant and will only need an occasional watering during long spells of dry weather. Other than that, the only maintenance needed is an application of a specialist sedum feed every spring. How versatile is sedum? Key Points Flowering Time: April – September (depending on local weather conditions) Height when fully grown is generally around 15cm but can vary Plants are perennial and frost hardy down to around -20 degrees Celsius Sedum Ground Mats are mown before despatch to minimise damage to plants. It is likely they will not be in flower when it is delivered Can be installed at any time of year. Please do not install directly onto soil. Our installation guidelines are designed to restrict weed growth. You can download our installation instructions here. It takes two slabs of Sedum Ground Cover matting to cover 1 square metre of prepared soil and it can weigh up to 25Kg. – we recommend having two people to install it. The balance of plant species is affected by soil type, management, pollinator populations and local climatic conditions. Expect your Sedum Ground Mats will change appearance from year to year   What’s In Enviromat® Sedum Ground Mat Kit? Sedum Ground Mat: Mats are self-contained and consist of a coir carrier backing, growing medium and mature plants. Capillary Moisture Mat: Included in our kits is a capillary moisture mat. Delivery Information

Smaller items like plants, plugs and seeds will be delivered by a parcel courier if ordered on their own. If your order includes a bulky item we will try and consolidate your deliveries into as few as possible.

Some items may be despatched from different locations which means they may be delivered separately to other items on your order. If this is the case it will show this on the item description.

We use Royal Mail for items up to 2kg. DPD for 5kg or more (e.g. 150 plugs), and DHL for parcels up to 30kg.

Current dispatch times are as follows: up to 3 days for orders that just contain seeds, up to 14 days for orders that contain Wildflower Plugs and up to 7 days for all other orders.

Currently we do not offer the ability to select your delivery day for items delivered on a parcel courier.
