Your Delivery

Turf Online aims to give its customers the best possible experience by delivering the best quality products for sale in the UK. Therefore, all our perishable products are harvested fresh to order the day before delivery!

Delivery charges and services vary by different types of turf and delivery location. Charges are confirmed at checkout before payment. If your order includes grass turf, topsoil, Wildflower Turf or Sedum mats, you can choose your delivery day. You should arrange for live products to be delivered on the day you will lay them. Reducing the amount of time the product is stored means significantly less potential nuisance when it comes to installation; certain issues will not have had a chance to rise. All other products are delivered within 5 working days (or usually sooner!).

How Is Your Product Delivered?

We recommend that you only make arrangements for tradespeople to carry out work on your behalf after your turf or other products have been delivered.

PLEASE NOTE: Turf, Wildflower Turf, Sedum Mats and bulk Bag products are delivered on a pallet and can only be delivered to the kerbside.

Most of our products for sale in the UK will be delivered by being transported by a pallet courier that primarily uses 18-tonne rigid trucks that are built for reaching the majority of UK addresses. However, it is possible that your delivery could be made on a larger vehicle. If access or other restrictions prevent vehicles above a certain size reaching your address, or there are other offloading or parking restrictions which could affect the delivery, let us know in the delivery notes section of checkout so that special delivery arrangements can be made. Please make sure you double check the delivery postcode and address carefully as after your order has been shipped, it is likely we will not be able to make any amendments to your order or address.

Delivery is unloaded using a manual pallet trolley which is lowered to the road by the tail lift on the truck. Unfortunately, we do not offer Hiab (truck-mounted crane) deliveries. To offload the pallet, the surface must be flat and level. Since Turf, Wildflower Turf, Sedum and topsoil can be heavy, and the pallet trolley pulled by the driver has small wheels, pallets cannot be delivered onto soil, grass or gravel – a tarmac or paved surface is required.

Kerbside delivery means that our products for sale in the UK is delivered as close as possible to the delivery address you provide. Our helpful drivers will do their best to place your delivery where you wish, such as a driveway, but this is at their discretion. If your delivery address is hard to find or the property is a new build, consider using what3words to pinpoint your delivery location. More information on what3words can be found in our Help Centre.

What Issues Could Arise With Delivery?

If your product delivery cannot be made due to a reason you failed to make us aware of, the full cost of distribution and products will still be charged to you. We are proud that most of our turf deliveries arrive on time. Sometimes, circumstances beyond our control (extreme weather, road accidents, vehicle breakdowns or IT failures) can delay delivery, but we will make every effort to keep you updated in such an event.

Meadowmat Woodland Shade Woodland Shade Meadowmat® is a blend of 31 native wildflowers and 6 grasses typically found growing in woodland margins and hedgerows. So it is ideal for those tricky spots in the garden where many garden flowers flounder. But please bear in mind that Woodland Shade cannot tolerate really deep shade. Dappled shade is OK but it definitely won’t thrive where the sun never shines. Woodland Shade will bring a splash of colour and serenity into your life alongside the knowledge that you are providing valuable wildlife habitat. Garden design tip: Install Woodland Shade over the top of spring flowering bulbs like snowdrops, crocus and native daffodils for extra colour. So that when the bulb foliage starts to wither and discolour it is much less noticeable. Key Points All but one of the plant species in Woodland Shade Meadowmat® are perennial. That means that you can enjoy them every year without replanting or reseeding……provided of course they enjoy the conditions in your garden! Flowering Time: April – October (depending on local weather conditions) with the strongest flush of flowers in late spring. To protect your plants, we will mow your Meadowmat® before despatch. So it will not be in flower when it is delivered. Although you can install any type of Meadowmat® at any time of year, autumn is the best time for Woodland Shade. That way the plants can root in over winter and be ready to bloom in early spring. It takes two slabs of Woodland Shade wildflower turf to cover 1 square metre of prepared soil. But with a saturated weight of up to 20Kg/m2, it’s definitely better for Meadowmat® to be handled by two people than by a lone gardener. Be prepared to be amazed! Meadowmat® actually changes appearance every year. Moreover, each plant species in the seed-mix responds differently to weather and of course we get different weather every year. You will never be bored! What is Meadowmat® ? Meadowmat® is a modern landscaping material especially developed to help UK gardeners establish biodiverse planting areas quickly and easily. We grow the plants from seed on a thin layer of growing medium where their roots intertwine to form a strong mat. We then transport the mat as flat slabs with two slabs covering 1 square metre. Woodland Shade asks for a largely hands-off and rather eco-friendly style of gardening. So, there’s no need for fertilisers and sprays, these plants are self-sufficient. So, leave it to grow unchecked between February and August. The biggest burst of the flowers will appear in May followed by smatterings of colour through the summer. At the end of summer, use a scythe to take off the vegetation – leave just 10 – 15 cm to re-grow and take away all of the trimmings. Then, mow once or twice in autumn to remove excess growth and let it overwinter. If you are growing Woodland Shade under trees, please remove fallen leaves in autumn. Groundcover ideas for semi-shade Finding the right place to grow Meadowmat Woodland Shade Woodland Shade prefers to grow in partial shade and on moist, but well drained low fertility soil. However, please avoid deep shade – the plants do need some daylight in order to thrive. Whilst happiest in a fairly neutral pH it will tolerate all but the most acidic or alkaline soils. This helps to regulate the growth of the grasses so that the flowering plants can thrive. Coverage Each slab of Woodland Shade wildflower turf measures 500mm (19.6″) wide by 1000mm (39.2″) long so it takes two slabs to cover 1m². Please note we sell this product by the square metre. Whilst Turfonline makes every effort to ensure wildflower products are free from weeds and pests, due to the natural way in which these products are grown we cannot guarantee they are 100% pest free on delivery. It is unlikely that you will see every species that is listed. We have developed a variety of species to suit a wide variety of soils and environmental conditions. So this will result in a product that will adapt to individual settings which may mean some species are more successful than others. Contains annual and perennial species.
